Outgoing Student Leaders

We have recently celebrated the work of our outgoing student leadership team and the inauguration of our new student leaders. We are grateful for their contribution to MSJ during our 60 year anniversary. We wish them every success as they prepare for exams, further study and work opportunities. Ms Helen Simic has provided great guidance, direction and support for the last few years and, as a community, we cannot thank her enough for always going above and beyond.

School Reunion

Our alumnae reunion was held on 26 October and it was great to see so many students return to MSJ to reminisce about their time at school. Sarah Trigger (School Captain) was on hand to escort her mother and her old classmates as members of the 1984 cohort. I was pleased to see so many return, especially from 1994 and 2014. So many changes were noted by the students. Thanks to Nicole Magee for organising the catch up and Chris Lavery for attending and helping students recount their time at MSJ.

Japan Trip Information Night 2025

We had a good turn out of students in Years 9-12 in 2025 as they all seek a place on the Seirei experience where our peace exchange program continues.

Drama Night Ten Two

A small group of students have been working on a drama performance with Mel Betul on 23/24 October. The students worked in pairs to present a number of short plays inspired by the numbers ten and two. It was great to see family and friends come along and enjoy the performances.

MSJ’s Got Talent

This week, we have seen the hall full as students supported their peers performing in MSJ’s Got Talent. It was great to see so many students on the stage and also students showing great respect as members of the audience.

Online Behaviours

When did you last check your child’s phone? What does their digital footprint look like? The e-Safety Commissioner has some great resources for parents and includes an online safety resource book. e-safety resource book

Metro Trains Presentation

MSJ students have been identified as being at an increased risk by a number of Metro Train drivers. Some students are not crossing at the crossing on Maidstone Street and cross near the tracks. Some are not conscious of where they are standing on the platform. The students in Years 7-9 have been involved in listening to a Metro representative and the Year 10s and 11s will hear the talk next week. Please have a conversation with your children about travel safety.

Year 12 Final Days

The Year 12 final days and Graduation Mass and Ceremony were a great success and enabled the Year 12s to celebrate their time at MSJ. The colour run, opening the time capsule and their final Year 12 assembly were highlights for the students. It has been great to see so many of them return to school seeking assistance for their upcoming exams. We wish them all the best.

Uniform

Without sounding like a broken record, the school uniform expectations are being met by the majority of the students. Sadly, the dress length continues to be a concern. Just a reminder that in Term 4, the blazer does not need to be worn as the outer garment but the school jumper cannot be worn without the blazer to and from school. White school socks must be worn with the school dress and skirt, and black or navy blue socks with the pants.

Reminder that mobile devices are not to be used during school hours, this includes break times. If a student breaches this requirement 3 times in a year, guardians will be required to attend the College to collect the mobile device. Each subsequent breach therafter will also require collection by a guardian.
