On 13 May, Charlotte Manikhot, Bianca Mathews and I were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to compete in the 2019 Victorian School Associations Competition representing SCSA. This is a Victorian event seeing the best of each association come together to race against all the Victorian School Associations. Each association is entitled to enter one swimmer, per age group, per event and Bianca, Charlotte and I were lucky enough to be chosen along with 4 other girls from SCSA registered schools. Our results saw us place 4th in the girls 15-16 4x50m butterfly relay, backstroke relay, breaststroke relay and medley relay and 6th in the freestyle relay.
In our individual events, I placed 7th in the 50m backstroke, Bianca placing 6th in the 50m butterfly and Charlotte placing 13th in the 50m Freestyle. Chau Huynh (Santa Maria College) also picked up a 3rd in the 50m breaststroke, Teena Getulio (Presentation College Windsor) placing 9th in her 100m freestyle. This was a great experience and opportunity that Dennis Makaling, SCSA executive officer, allowed us to enter and we hope to see even more girls representing SCSA in 2019. A huge thank you to Sue Sofarnos as well for letting us know about this and encouraging us to take in these great opportunities.

On 12 and 14 April, I was lucky enough to be able to compete in the Men's Artistic Gymnastics Victorian Championships held at the Geelong Arena. This was my first time competing at the Victorian Championships and also my first time competing at this level against boys. I was the only girl at the competition and I was told I was the first girl in Victoria to compete against boys at the state level. I was very nervous at first however, everyone at the competition was very supportive and I had heaps of fun whilst competing. I would like to say a big thanks to everyone from FCGC Gymnastics Club, including my coaches and teammates for encouraging and supporting me to compete in the sport that I love!
