The SCSA softball competition was a great success for the MSJ team, with the intermediate team winning 1st place, despite most players not having played before. The competition was a great opportunity for many students to develope skills and confidence in a sport they have never played before. The teams were all very supportive of each other and were continuously teaching and guiding others. The MSJ spirit was shown on the day. All the teams performed extremely well together, despite only having a few training sessions. A big thanks to all the team captains, and teachers, and especially to Mr Dicker for helping.

The inaugural sports awards evening took place on Friday 14th October. More than 140 parents and students who played a significant role in the sporting program this year, welcomed special guests and staff to the MMC for a meal and to share in the recognition of a great year in sports. Hosted by Bridget Munro and Nina Unsworth with the help of outgoing year 12 students the night was a great success, hearing stories from guest speaker, Australian dodgeball player Fiona Nguyen and sharing memories with one another.
There was the introduction of the new awards for student athlete of the year in the junior, intermediate and senior level – handed to deserving winners Erin Godfrey, Anna Adani and Mila Fanjek respectively. Coach of the year was given to Mr Crank for his work with the Volleyball teams and two special awards were given to Charlotte Banfield-Lynch and Alex Phanuruk for their significant contribution to the MSJ sports program during their time at the school. It was great to be able to be in the same room to celebrate the achievements of the students again.
