On Sunday 5 May, MSJ’s four aerobics teams performed in Gisborne against other schools in our region for the School Aerobics Regional Competition. All of the teams did an outstanding job and we were lucky enough for 3 of our teams to make it through to the State Finals which will be contested in Geelong on 1 June. In the teams, we had girls from Years 7-10 and the names of our teams were Thunder, Adrenalin, Power, and my team, Lightning. We performed fast, energetic and fun dance moves as a team and practised many lunchtimes, rehearsing the routine over and over to the music (Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne) so we could try to perfect the timing and make the moves ‘on point’. At the competition, there was a big audience watching, with many judges scoring our performance based on technique and artistic ability. When the teams headed out onto the stage, everyone did a magnificent job and we are all very happy with the results. Wish our teams luck for States - GO MSJ!!!

On 7 May, MSJ Inters went to MSAC to participate in SCSA Badminton 2019. The experience was surreal, and Ms. Meurant summed it up when she said, “The inters are unbeatable“.
After losing for the past 3 years to Killester College, this year MSJ came back strong and played as a team , defeating Killester College, 146 - 127. The smile on everyone's face was indescribable. Thanks to Sue Sofarnos, Gemma and all the teachers for their love and support.
And special congrats to Gabby Hoenig for winning the Most Valuable Player in the final.
We are MSJ!
