Performing Arts: A Busy End to the Year

As the year wound down, things were far from slowing in the Performing Arts department. Term 4 was just as bustling as ever!

We finished Term 3 strong with 'Spectaculathon: A Presentation of Music, Drama, and Fine Arts'. This showcase highlighted our instrumental department with large ensembles across various instruments. It was fabulous to have items such as the string ensemble accompany MSJ Voices, and a finale with all students playing together. Amazing work from the whole team!

Recent Events

  • MSJ's Got Talent: Heats were held at the end of October, with the final in November. As always, an array of extraordinary talent from across all year levels was on display.
  • 'Ten/Two': Two evening showings of the play Ten/Two by Lindsay Price was performed by the drama students in the PAC Building. This was directed by Ms Mel Butel. Great work from all the young actors.
  • Drum Soirée: An evening concert showcased the incredible talent in our music department. It was loud and proud!
  • MSJ Voices Community Performances:
    • Carols in the Park at Logan Reserve, Altona, 8 Dec, 6pm
    • Picnic in the Park, Seabrook, 14 Dec, 5pm

Following MSJ Voices' performance at the Hobsons Bay Reconciliation event, the choir has been asked to perform at an increasing number of events. Thank you for representing the school beautifully in the community.

Looking Ahead to 2025

The Performing Arts domain is already gearing up for an exciting 2025. We'll be presenting the musical "Little Shop of Horrors" at Altona Theatre in August. Auditions were held in Term 4, and we look forward to bringing this show to life. Just remember - don't feed the plant!

Moments in Time

A wonderful cabaret style evening of song, dance and comedy was held in celebration of the 60 years of MSJ. The show was conceived and written by Trudi Camilleri and the cast. The show referenced specific events from MSJ history and well as social and cultural events through the decades.
