Next year, we celebrate our 60th Anniversary of Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College and we are excited to mark this momentous occasion with a variety of events that will showcase the rich heritage and legacy of the College.
"Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College was established by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart and the first 65 students walked through the gates on 4 February 1964. As the first Catholic Secondary College in the area, the College at the time offered a sense of hope and certainty to those parents who believed that through education their aspirations for their daughters could be fulfilled."
We continue to share this hope and stand on the foundations of Virtue and Courage.
We would like to invite all students, families and friends of MSJ to help us come up with our 60th Anniversary theme.
There are 3 key areas to be considered.
The theme will create a focus and sense of direction for the year and is to incorporate our values of Virtue and Courage.
Examples are:
2022 – Come as you are…
2023 – Our joy is in our belonging…
If you would like to contribute your theme ideas to next year’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, please click on the link and complete the details in the form.
If you are an MSJ Alumni and have a fond memory or anecdote to share of your time at MSJ, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the link to complete the form and submit your short story or memory at MSJ (no more than 300 words, please).
Anja D’Alessandri - Compliance and Administration Manager
The College Administration Office will be closed for the first week of the school holidays and re-open on Monday 3rd July. The school holiday office hours will then be from 8am-4pm.
The Learning Resource Centre will be open for 4 days during the second week of the school holidays. Opening times are 8am-4pm Tuesday, July 4 until Friday, July 7.
The safety of our students is of paramount importance, and we have had recent concerns from parents in relation to the bus transportation to and from the College provided by Public Transport Victoria.
We endeavour to escalate each concern raised directly to the bus transport organisation, however, the bus services are not directly managed by MSJ.
If you have a concern regarding the bus transportation provided by PTV, please click on the link below to log your complaint via the Bus Complaint form. This will help us to register your complaint, notify us of your concern and identify systemic issues that may be occurring with the transportation services provided by PTV. https://forms.office.com/r/sfwi1vhBXx
Our recommendation is that you also log your complaint directly with PTV (Public Transport Victoria).
You can do this by calling 1800 800 007. The PTV customer service team are available between 6am and midnight daily (all night Friday and Saturday).
As we partner together to demonstrate our concerns, it is our aim that collectively, we can send a clear message to the contractors of the services engaged by PTV (Public Transport Victoria) regarding the service provided.

Art has always held a special place in our society, providing a source of inspiration, creativity, and self-expression. Recently, a group of VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) students embarked on a remarkable journey to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), one of Australia's most prestigious art institutions. This captivating experience offered them an opportunity to explore and appreciate the finest works of art, broadening their horizons and fostering a deeper understanding of the world of creativity and imagination.
The National Gallery of Victoria: Ian Potter Centre – Federation Square
The NGV, located in the heart of Melbourne, is renowned for its extensive collection of art spanning various eras, styles, and cultures. It serves as a sanctuary for art enthusiasts, scholars, and artists alike. The current Top Arts showcases a rich and diverse collection that includes paintings, sculptures, textiles, photography, and video animation, by carefully selected secondary school artists. Melbourne Now is an incredibly exciting and vast contemporary exhibition, displayed over three floors. It is a carefully curated show of both traditional and contemporary artforms from light and sound shows, art installations, fashion garments, clay sculpture and everything in between.
The VCE students were treated to a special exhibition that highlighted some of the most extraordinary and thought-provoking artworks from their VCE peers. Curated with meticulous attention to detail, this exhibition aimed to challenge preconceptions and spark conversations about the power of art. They also received an all-access pass to sit in on a talk from the curator of the exhibition explaining the themes and the design of the show, followed by a special treat of looking through the supporting visual art journals of their favourite artworks that got them into the coveted exhibition to connect the art making process to the final artwork.
As the students wandered through the gallery, they encountered a myriad of captivating pieces. From painting masterpieces to contemporary videos and animation, each artwork offered a unique perspective on the world, provoking emotions and encouraging reflection. The exhibition's curation was carefully crafted to engage the students and stimulate their curiosity, encouraging them to explore different artistic forms and interpretive possibilities.
The Impact of the Exhibition
For the VCE students, this visit to the NGV proved to be a transformative experience. Immersed in the vibrant world of art, they gained a newfound appreciation for the creative process and the various ways in which artists express their ideas and emotions.
The exhibition provided a platform for the students to critically analyse and interpret artworks, enabling them to develop essential skills such as observation, analysis, and evaluation. It offered them the opportunity to understand art as a form of communication and self-expression, challenging them to think beyond the confines of their textbooks and classrooms.
Furthermore, the visit to the NGV served as a source of inspiration for the VCE students' own artistic endeavours, witnessing the remarkable works of talented artists from VCE 2022.
I am excited to report that Academy Uniforms are implementing a major systems upgrade during the School Holidays which will see the introduction of a brand new POS system across all stores as well as a brand new website which will have many new features and benefits for parents.
To implement this major upgrade, we will be closing all stores from Thursday 29 June and re-opening 9am Tuesday 4 July. On-line ordering will also be unavailable during this time.
We have chosen the quietest few days of the year for this rollout to minimise the inconvenience to families.
